Middle Leaders are the engines of any school and are, when effective, the people who help to fulfil the vision and ethos of the school’s Senior Leaders most effectively. They are instrumental in shaping and improving the teaching and learning practice of their colleagues in order to secure the best possible outcomes for students.

The programme is designed to help Middle Leaders:

  • Further enhance their classroom practice and become highly effective and appropriately skilled practitioners in the classroom
  • Gain knowledge about what responsibility for areas of school beyond their own classroom involves
  • Build and develop leadership skills
  • Understand the impact of effective leadership on staff and pupils – i.e. how it drives performance and secures the best possible outcomes
  • Appreciate the importance of using research and understand how to implement it successfully, as well as evaluate its effectiveness

What the programme involves:

  • A series of twilight sessions focusing on the key priorities, knowledge and abilities that Middle Leaders require
  • Well-established and highly rated sessions, delivered by knowledgeable and extremely competent practising Middle and Senior Leaders
  • Opportunities to engage in professional dialogue with colleagues from other schools and phases in order to develop insight and skills

Our Middle Leader Programme covers a wide range of content that has been selected for its suitability to help those seeking to develop their career within this area, or those who have been recently appointed into a Middle Leader post. Sessions therefore include:
