Welcome to Write Time

Write Time is a partnership between the City of York Council, Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance and Huntington Research School. So far, over 30 schools and more than 2,000 pupils have benefitted from the project.

The project develops children and teachers as writers, embedding strategies and implementing research that has continued to show a positive impact on pupil outcomes, including for disadvantaged pupils, low and middle achievers and boys.

 

The Approach

The Write Time approach’s success is founded on a clear writing process that has been informed by the best available education research. The process enables pupils to build their understanding and confidence about the writing process, with teachers gradually releasing more responsibility to the students with the aim to develop confident and independent writers.

Teachers receive high quality evidence-informed training to secure core understanding about the process and how best to deliver it in the classroom. The training includes access to a bank of supporting resources including classroom ready resources and examples of the writing process in action.
